This work aims to clarify the objectives and effects of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms on education. It does this by highlighting the constitutional changes which occurred with the entrenchment of the Charter. Discussion focuses on historical grounding, the impact of the constitution on education, and the main aspects of the Charter itself. The author explores the idea that education is political rather than judicial.
