John Bowler is a professional ecologist who has worked in conservation for more than 20 years. While managing Aride Island Nature Reserve for the Royal Society for Nature Conservation from 1998 to 2001, he discovered firsthand the need for a comprehensive guide to the wildlife of these unique islands, and it was during his time in Seychelles that he collected most of the material for this book. He has a PhD in avian ecology and is the author of numerous papers and articles on ecology and conservation. He is a widely traveled naturalist and currently works for RSPB Scotland in the Inner Hebrides.
