Wood as Fuel

This book is a resource economist's view of the role of wood as a fuel in developing countries and is a justification for committing resources to ensure the continued availability of wood as fuel. Development planners tended to assume that woodfuels should be replaced with more modern types of fuel as development occurred. Because of the rise in price of petroleum fuels woodfuels have taken on a new relevance as a potential major energy source. Wood as Fuel contains a summary of current data on fuelwood supply and demand for individual countries and identifies those countries with the most severe fuelwood problems.
