Relationale Grammatik

The study is a contribution on the semantic processing of natural languages. Relational grammars are developed for specific areas of German and English. A relational grammar is a context-free grammar with a semantics based on relational algebra. Relational algebra has constants and operations but no variables and is therefore better suited to the semantics of natural languages than predicate logic. The study is of interest for language theory, semantics, semiotics, computer linguistics, knowledge representation.
 
Mit der Arbeit wird ein Beitrag zur semantischen Verarbeitung natürlicher Sprachen geleistet. Dazu werden relationale Grammatiken für Sprachausschnitte des Deutschen und Englischen entwickelt. Eine relationale Grammatik ist eine kontextfreie Grammatik mit einer Semantik auf der Grundlage der Relationenalgebra. Die Relationenalgebra hat weder Variablen noch Stufenunterschiede und ist deshalb für die Semantik natürlicher Sprachen besser geeignet als die Prädikatenlogik. Die Arbeit ist für Sprachtheorie, Semantik, Semiotik, Computerlinguistik und Wissensrepräsentation interessant.
