This work is designed to enable readers to diagnose and combat, through effective treatment measures, both parasitic and non-parasitic diseases of the tomato. The first section of the atlas uses over 300 colour photographs to help the reader to learn the processes and acquire the skills necessary for reliable diagnosis. The second one deals with control and includes data on each parasitic micro-organism, their biological characteristics and methods of treatment. As well as immediate measures, recommendations are also included on steps to prevent the disease recurring in the next crop. Emphasis is placed on symptoms of the roots and stems, as it is often a failure to recognize these at a sufficiently early stage that results in ultimate disease control failure.
