Thomas Beddoes (1760-1808) crammed a great deal into his short life. He taught chemistry at Oxford, wrote on the philosophy of education and science, and practised medicine in Bristol where he helped to establish the Infirmary. This biography, written by another Bristol doctor of the time, contains information about Beddoes's medical and scientific career - in particular his dealings with Humphry Davy and Erasmus Darwin. Unpublished letters and lectures are included as appendices.
