Several major human neurodegenerative diseases have been shown to be associated with mitochrondial dysfunction. This discovery has provided new opportunities for a better understanding of these diseases. Providing an overview of this field, this text includes basic topics, clinical applications and therapy. It contains research concerning Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Lou Gehrig's disease and Huntington's disease.athogenesis of neuro degenerative diseases are addressed from the point of view of mitochondrial dysfunction.
