The neural control of airways is complex and recently a number of important advances have been made in the understanding of the mechanisms involved. These new aspects in the understanding of the cholinergic, adrenergic and neuropeptide control of airway function (including the nose) are covered in detail, as is the role of nerves in airway disease, rhinitis and the therapeutic implications of the new observations.
