This book is aimed specifically at students, on their interests, experiences and environments, so that the design situations considered are a familiar and meaningful forum for the development of the techniques, concepts and attitudes important to CDT at this level. There are four sections, the first of which presents examplars of students following through design problems, from the initial situation to the final evaluation. Section 2 attempts to direct students to put into practice the ideas that they have encountered in section 1, by providing design briefs for the reader to develop. Section 3 provides a framework of information on techniques, knowledge and basic concepts that students at this level will need in order to tackle design problems. Section 4 guides students in the presentation and evaluation of their own work in a way that aims to help them to develop a constructive and critical overview of their design activity.
