Professor Banner's book provides documentation of women's roles in the United States from 1890 to date. Banner delineates three goals in her approach: to explore the reasons why feminism rose and fell and rose again, to examine the history of various groups of women, and to focus on the continuing struggle women face in claiming their rights.
