The story of the Warburton family, from the mid-1870s when Ellen Warburton baked and sold a few loaves of bread from a small grocery shop, to the founding of a family company, and the growth and continued development of the Warburton's bakery company. The book traces the family back across five generations, and is written to mark the handing over of responsibility to the fourth generation. It looks at the contributions that have been made by various individual family members to the company's success. The company's commitment to quality and its systematic approach to new technology are covered, and one chapter asks - "what makes a good baker?" Its rapid growth during the past 40 years, and its plans for the future are also examined.
