Julian Baker has enjoyed a long career as an orchestral and chamber musician that began as principal horn of the Hallé Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli at the age of twenty. In 1977, after seven years in the BBC Symphony Orchestra, he was appointed co-principal in the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, where he remained until 1996. He was a professor at the Royal College of Music for over thirty-five years and has taught students from all over the world.
