Expansion, Trade and Industry: Teachers' Guide

This is an examination of the major social, economic, political and cultural themes in Britain between 1750 and 1900. Living and working conditions are looked at in detail, as is the political development of Britain, from the popular protest movements to the extension of the franchise in the Reform Acts of the 19th century. Particular attention is given to the impact of industry and empire on art and architecture and popular culture, with a chapter investigating the use of photographs as sources.
