In this book the author attempts to clarify the complicated political situation in Afghanistan and provide a clearer understanding of its people, tribal codes, customs and its future. George Arney was the BBC's correspondent in Pakistan and Afghanistan between June 1986 and November 1988. He has spent a considerable amount of time with the Mujahedin forces and was the first foreign journalist to be allowed to visit Kabul. The book is published to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
