Risk

Public and governmental interest in problems of technological risk management has been stimulated in recent years through media attention, pressure group action, numerous disasters and the evidence of science concerning threats to society and the environment. There is pressure for governments to assume greater pressure for the control of risks albeit at the expense of more restricted opportunity for further economic and technological advancement. This volume of papers on aspects of risk management consists of contributions made to a series of seminars held at Hull University in 1989/90. Topics range from methodology to ethics, with examples drawn from finance, industry, transport, health and the environment.
