Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract are encountered commonly by practitioners in most branches of medicine. This text aims to inform both the trainee and specialist in the various diseases of the gut and liver. It covers as much of the field as possible, focusing on the clinical setting with 60 per cent clinical photographs, 30 perc ent radiology and 10 per cent photomicrographs. Each picture is accompanied by two or three questions. Imaging technology is presented in the form of endoscopies and x-rays. Current and potential applications of endoscopy are also covered in this text. The emphasis of the text is on the common, important or interesting disorders, with nothing too esoteric, this reflecting the practice regularly tested in exams. It is intended to illustrate and supplement the fundamental knowledge acquired from standard lectures and textbooks.
