The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 - A Practical Guide

The Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 has been described as the most significant piece of insolvency legislation since the seminal Insolvency Act 1986. This first book to be published specifically on the Act, guides the reader through all the provisions and analyses each one from a practical point of view. It will be required reading for anyone who practices in this area as a lawyer or insolvency professional. Each of the major sections of the Act is considered in a separate chapter and the salient points explained with particular emphasis on the practical consequences. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Stephen Allinson has specialised in credit, debt, restructuring and insolvency work since 1987, and has extensive experience in dealing with the full range of these procedures. Prior to setting up his own consultancy, he was a Business Recovery and Insolvency partner at a major law firm heading up a team of over 50 legal professionals undertaking national debt and insolvency contracts in both the private and public sectors. Stephen was appointed Chairman of the Board of The Insolvency Service in January 2017 and is also the Chairman of the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB); one of the Chairmen of the Methodist Church Disciplinary Process; a Tutor at the University of Law and formerly the Deputy Independent Examiner for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He is the author of 'Enforcement of a Judgment', widely regarded as the leading practitioner work on this subject, and also a contributor to leading legal educational publications and practical insolvency texts in both the corporate and personal insolvency arenas.
