The book consists of 16 verses in limerick form. The verses are written by a neurosurgeon and masterfully illustrated by a seasoned professional. In addition to the facts presented, there is a glossary at the end of the book which provides both meanings of the medical terms as well as pronunciations.

Cargill H. Alleyne, Jr, M.D. is a neurosurgeon in private practice (Piedmont Neurosciences) in Augusta Georgia. He is a former Professor and Chairman of Neurosurgery at Augusta University. His honors include Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors" and America's "Best Doctors". Dr. Alleyne's bibliography includes over 500 scholarly contributions. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and is currently a Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Alleyne is married to Audrey Alleyne, M.D., an anesthesiologist, and their two children, Nathan and Nicole, were the inspiration for the book series.
Anekay Kelly, M.S., C.M.I is a medical illustrator at MediVisuals, Inc. She was formerly an illustrator in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. She was also a teaching assistant in the anatomy lab for healthcare graduate programs.
