On the Ashes tour of 1990-91, Jonathan Agnew, only two months retired from first-class cricket and untutored in the ways of the British sporting press, took his first steps into journalism. Now the BBC's cricket correspondent, he presents an upfront account of England's tests at home and abroad since 1991, and of his own metamorphosis from player to fully-fledged member of the "rat pack". He offers strong, sometimes surprising views on England's fluctuating fortunes during this period, and sheds light on some of the controversial issues of the day, such as ball-tampering and intimidatory bowling, and provides off-field anecdotes.
