Whether called Shiva's Locks or the Roof of the World, the Himalayas are a place in which the extremes of nature have greatly inspired the musical imagination. From Northern India to Ladakh, Tibet, Sikkim, Nepal and Bhutan, the Himalayas are home to peoples of very different origins and are holy to indigenous belief systems as diverse as Hinduism, Bonpo, Mahayanan Buddhism and nature worship of many kinds.
