Innocent Abroad

The story of Hannah Hauxwell's tour of Europe in the footsteps of intrepid Victorian lady travellers. Realizing an ambition to travel, Hannah visits many beautiful and famous places including Paris, Salzburg, Capri, Naples and Venice. Her experiences are compared here with earlier travellers through archive material and 19th-century travel literature. She meets local inhabitants and finds much in common with a Swiss dairy farmer amongst others. "Innocent Abroad" is a six-part series on ITV. Barry Cockroft is the award-winning producer of many TV documentaries including three on the life of Hannah Hauxwell: "Too Long a Winter", "Children of Erksdale" and "A Winter Too Many". These stories are read by Hannah Hauxwell herself.
