Payment in Blood

Nathaniel Parker and Sharon Small star as a mismatched New Scotland Yard team of Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers. An avant-garde play is being read at a Scottish country house, during the evening the playwright is brutally murdered. Unhappily for Lynley, his own beloved Helen is one of the subjects and perhaps he allows his feelings to cloud his judgement.
