This work provides legal practitioners and other professionals, operating both inside and outside Europe, with a succinct, accurate and up to date text on current European environmental law. The rapid rate of regulation and the very wide spectrum of activities and substances now falling under environmental control have created the necessity for a major reference work of this type, which tempers theoretical discussion and speculation with the pressing need of the practioner to know what the law is, and its application. The body of the work sets out the hard law on a wide range of matters under three main sections: the European natural, human and man-made environments. Under "Systems", the various aspects of European environmental law mainly concerned with making it effective are dealt with. An exhaustive subject index is preceded by a section covering community cases and another consisting of selected community legislation (Treaty texts and a table of selected enacted and proposed secondary EC legislation). The author has practised, lectured and advised in this field for many years. The work will be updated by three supplementary issues each year.
