Durch das Lesen dieser Abschnitte erkennt man auch die Elemente, die den christologischen Charakter der johanneischen Jüngerschaft kennzeichnen. Die Exegese des Autors von Johannes 17 bestätigt, dass die Lehren des Johannes bezüglich Christologie und Jüngerschaft eng zusammenhängen. Alle Elemente, die auf den christologischen Charakter der Jüngerschaft hinweisen, sind in Johannes 17 Thema. Der Autor kommt zu dem Schluss, dass Christologie, welche das Herzstück des Gedankenguts des Johannes ist, ihren Zweck nicht in sich selbst hat, sondern zur Jüngerschaft führt.
