Born and raised in Italy, I grew up with a passionate love for food. I was a lucky child. Thanks to my mamma, nonna, and zias?who seemed to cook from dawn till dusk?I was surrounded by the most varied and exquisite Italian cuisine from across the country. I took for granted that my grandmas and aunts could whip up fresh pasta at a moment's notice or that my uncle could roast a porceddu or prepare shellfish to succulent perfection. I inhaled it all with the hedonistic gusto of youth.
As a teenager, I further honed my taste for traditional Italian flavors by eagerly serving as a tester for my uncle's pasticceria and caffè. Savoring those silky custards, perfect pastries, and desserts, I began to understand what details elevated an ordinary dish into an extraordinary one.
While pursuing a career in life sciences, I earned a PhD in Medical Biotechnology, specializing in cardiovascular science. This academic journey allowed me to blend my scientific expertise with my culinary heritage. I began applying a molecular approach to cooking, aiming to combine exquisite flavors with tradition and healthy eating.
My passion for food and commitment to healthy eating grew even stronger when I met my true love while working as a cardiovascular researcher in the USA. As we began dating, I was eager to share my culinary heritage?real Italian food?with my new love. For, as any Italian living or traveling abroad quickly discovers, 'Italian' food outside of Italy is often barely recognizable.
