This book dares to offer a deeply personal glimpse into the journey of becoming a Jungian analyst. The reader is invited into the safe temenos of the author's training analysis, with an analyst who challenges the author to reach beyond herself and develop deep intimacy. With suffering, a flood of dreams, and an insatiable longing for her analyst's hand, the author discovers the force of Self in the second half of life that insists on leading the way. The journey emphasizes how analysis is learned via an apprenticeship forged in sitting at the feet of the elders. This includes working with a tough and compassionate supervising analyst who is a Holocaust survivor. Readers witness the joining of the intimate training group as "siblings" and partners in crime. Finally, the author shares her political transformations in the shadows of war and brokenness of the world that inspires her to meet the "artist within" and helps to make her mark on the world.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
'Dr. Robin Zeiger has written a unique, intimate and pioneering account of a therapist's journey toward becoming a Jungian psychoanalyst. Although there are some accounts of analysis by patients, [...] this is the very first book which gives an in depth, experience near, account of a training analysis. This book will appeal to anyone interested in the process of initiation, the mysterious world of depth psychology as well as the experience of dream work and as an inspirational case study for personal or classroom use. Dr. Zeiger is also exceptional in being able to combine and integrate her orthodox Jewish lifestyle of an American living in Israel with her developing identity as a Jungian. Dr. Zeiger has made outstanding contributions to Jungian psychology and is a highly esteemed international expert in sand tray therapy. The work is an intense human document, revealing vulnerabilities and flashpoints in her training and personal life. It is very well written and researched. Her bibliography is fully up to date.'Prof. Henry AbramovitchTel Aviv University and Founding President, Israel Institute of Jungian Psychology, in honor of Erich Neumann.
