This is a guide to the basic principles of the law governing the laying of conduits by private agreement and statutory authority for: electricity, telecommunications, water, gas, oil and effluent. The book is divided into two parts: the first part deals with the laying of conduits by private agreement, the second with laying by statutory authority. This edition has been revised to take into account the privatization of firms such as British Telecom, British Oil and British Petroleum, the building of the Channel Tunnel, the abolition of the Metropolitan councils, and states the position of the law both before and after the privatization of the water and electricity industries. It also contains 60 new cases. It also takes account of other relevant statutes including the Housing Act 1985, changes in the Town and Country Planning: Use Classes Order, the General Development Order 1988, the Local Government Act 1985, and the European Environmental Impact Regulations 1988.
