Toward a Fraternal Society

In the foreword to Kenneth Gallagher's study of his thought, the first in the United States, Gabriel Marcel acknowledged that «this fine study ... had the merit of emphasizing an idea which is absolutely central to my work» viz., «as soon as there is creation, in whatever degree we are in the realm of being (and) the converse is equally true.» The most seminal creation of Marcel is that of 'intersubjectivity' achieved through 'experiential' and inseparable from concrete approaches to being. This book examines Marcel's 'experiential thinking' that seeks to create a fraternal order in society embracing faithful relationship between man and man, and a harmonious gentleness between man and all beings.
