This work begins with a review of matrix algebra followed by a review of computer arithmetic. An extensive study of vector and matrix norms and convergent matrices lead to the condition number of a matrix, applied to testing the nearness to singularity of a square matrix, and sensitivity analysis of solutions of square linear systems.
