Caring for Older People

This text promotes good practice in the care of older people for those intraining and/or working as carers in day care, residential and domiciliary settings. Care of the whole person is emphasized: physical, psychological, social, spiritual and personal care needs are all recognized and put in the context of creative care planning and implementation. Essential knowledge is linked to work-based activities in order to develop the skills required by the effective carer. The book is for those being trained and assessed at NVQ level 3. It is suitable for students of BTEC National social care and health studies courses and City and Guilds Foundation Management for Care scheme. It will also be useful for anyone preparing for a professional care qualification such as the Diploma in Social Work.
