This is the definitive guide to the defender's role and how the police investigate. It introduces new and established practitioner tools and describes each stage of skilled, active defence. Key consultations - with the custody officer, the investigating officer, the client, the appropriate adult, and the interpreter as well as the police interview are examined in depth. Potential problems, obstacles and pitfalls, and practical ways of dealing with these are highlighted. Police Station Skills for Legal Advisers is endorsed by the Criminal Law Committee of the Law Society.
