Factors in the Emergence of Arboviruses Diseases

The articles in this book correspond to the proceedings of an international symposium which explored emerging diseases. The dual epidemiological and molecular approach to emerging diseases is reflected, with the objective of studying the different parameters involved in the evolution of diseases and establishing the mechanisms of the emergence and possible spread of infectious agents from their tropical reservoir. This approach is designed to prevent the recurrence of pandemics such as those seen with HIV. This first meeting was devoted to arbovirus diseases. From dengue to Rift Valley fever, scientist describe the epidemiology of arthropod-borne virus diseases in animals and humans, their pathogenesis and biological, molecular and genetic evolution. Transmission risks and control, vaccine design and development and public health concerns are also debated.
