The objective of this conference was to strengthen the bridge between the developers and practitioners of laser materials processing technology. The sequence of topics progresses from a concentration on technology to a concentration on applications. The technology topics include: improvements in traditional processes, process monitoring, material synthesis, beam shaping and diagnostics, and novel processes. The emphasis shifts towards applications by concentrating on those industries which have most successfully utilised laser materials processing. These include the following industries: automotive, aerospace, electronics, defence, appliance, and sheet metal fabrication.
