This textbook provides a general introduction to those aspects of the law which most affect building, supported by a wealth of case material relevant to the industry. There is strong emphasis on the law of tort, reflecting the main areas in which builders are liable; and full coverage of the law on sale of goods (with particular reference to the drafting of orders), contracts of employment, property and highways. An appendix deals with the current state of the law on bankruptcy. The book gives full coverage of the CIOB Member Part 1 syllabus for Building Law, but should be suitable for students taking other professional and degree courses in building, architecture, surveying and related fields (specimen questions are included from past examination papers); while practitioners will find it a useful source of reference on the law as it affects their work.
