This text, like the other 25 volumes in the series, provides critical excerpts on the works of writers of all genres and nationalities. Trends covered by the series include 19th-century British periodicals, French Symbolism, Pre-Raphaelitism, The Russian Natural School and the Bildungsroman and has recently been expanded to include important political, social and economic writers. This series includes both authors and critics who are not American and also provides excerpts from the tranlated critical works of German, Russian and French commentators.
