CPAG's Income Support, the Social Fund and Family Credit

The 1989 edition of John Mesher's guide to means-tested benefits within the scope of Social Security Appeal Tribunals will be welcomed by all those who deal with this complex and ever-changing legislation. The current text of all relevant statutory material is reproduced. A new and easier-to-follow system of noting the dates of amendments has been introduced. A full commentary on the meaning and practical application of the provisions is added and embraces decisions of the Social Security Commissioners and of the courts. Much of the commentary has been rewritten for the 1989 edition. This edition includes the many amendments made to the "Income Support (General) Regulations 1987" and the "Family Credit (General) Regulations 1987". The effects of the "Social Security Act 1988" on the under-18s and on boarders and in introducing cold weather payments are fully covered. All new benefit rates altered in the April 1989 uprating are included.
