Inspection has been one of the limitations of automation. The goal of automated inspection and product control is to eliminate the need for conventional inspection. The philosophy behind this approach is totally different from conventional quality control - the process is controlled in such a way that no defective parts are produced. This conference aimed to bring together technologists from a variety of disciplines to consider the options and future directions for this technology.
