Toward Foundations of Information Science

This unique monograph, based on papers delivered at four sessions of the Special Interest Group on Foundations of Information Science, presents a cross section of significant contemporary thought on the nature of information science. The first three sections of the book examine the place of information theory, artificial intelligence and the recipient in information science. The fourth section examines models of interpretation in observation and communication.
