Although the study of blood cell morphology has reached a high level of sophistication in man, the amount of information available on other species is comparatively limited. The use of blood films in microscopical examination can reveal a great deal about the health of the individual and about any disease processes which might be present. This atlas illustrates both normal and abnormal blood cells from a variety of mammals, birds and reptiles. It points out changes in cell morphology in primary blood diseases such as leukaemia, and with secondary responses associated with infection such as anaemia.
