Pig husbandry has an enormous impact on the social as well as economic development of the north eastern region of India particularly in North Eastern States of India, predominated by tribal people where pig is the most important livestock. However, successful swine production depends in part on preventing infectious diseases that affect reproductive performance. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), an emerging Transboundary disease of pigs, is considered as most important viral agent for causing reproductive failure in pig population worldwide characterized by reproductive failure in sows, and respiratory disease in pigs and cause economically great loss to the swine industry worldwide. The present study reveals the pathological and molecular diagnosis of this important emerging Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory syndrome (PRRS).
