This third edition of a text first published in 1964 and thoroughly revised in 1975, reflects a decade-long mutual effort between the two authors to present what they consider to be the essentials of a crictical speciality in the world today. The detection of tropical illnesses in temperate climates is dependent on an awareness of their very existence, and on understanding their pathogenesis, signs and symptoms. The facts about these diseases are rarely taught in medical schools, and yet they cause considerable suffering all over the world.
