The present volume of the Handbook of Chromatography series on the subject of peptides is a continuation and extension of Dr. Blackburn's earlier book on amino acids and amines (CRC, 1983). There has been an actual revolution in the thinking and practice of protein characterisation and amino acid sequence determination. Peptide identification and resolution have played a major role in these endeavours, and shall be discussed here.
