Professor Jonathan Hardman is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Professor of Anaesthesia at the University of Nottingham. His research has focussed on critical illness and crisis scenarios, using high-fidelity modelling as the primary methodology. His research group has been continuously funded for over a decade by the UK Research Councils, and has published a number of policy-changing research manuscripts. His clinical
interests include regional anaesthesia, clinical risk assessment & management, and the complications of anaesthesia. He is Director of Research in the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham, and prior to this, spent several years directing Doctoral Programmes for the University. Outside of his
day-to-day employment, he is associate editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Anaesthesia.
Michel MRF Struys, MD, PhD, FRCA is professor and chair at the department of anesthesiology, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands. He is also affiliated as Professor to the department of Anesthesiology, Ghent University, Gent, Belgium. He is a board certified anaesthetist in Belgium and the Netherlands and he is also board certified as a clinical pharmacologist in the Netherlands. His clinical interest in mainly in anaesthesia for high-risk
patient undergoing abdominal, oncology, and transplant surgery. In addition to his editorial work for Anesthesia&Analgesia, he is a member of the Editor Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia. He is member of various national and international scientific organizations and is first or senior author
