"Cogito, ergo sum," said René Descartes in the 17th century. I think, therefore I am. And his philosophy that the body and the mind are separate entities, existing independently of each other set the tone for modern medical science. In the last few decades, irrefutable research from around the globe proves that this is not the case. The body and the mind are inseparable from each other.
The mind is not shackled by the confines of space and time. The body is. When these two fundamental elements of our existence are not on the same plane, there is an incongruity. Our being can sense the fragmentation, for the body and the mind are not separate. While the incongruity itself is nigh impossible to perceive, the perception of congruity, if one is fortunate enough, is like bathing in the brilliance of a thousand splendid suns. In that moment, one cannot doubt the magnificence and benevolence of life. We all have the capacity to experience this.
Embodiment is the great union - Yoga - of body and consciousness. It is becoming established in a choiceless awareness. It is becoming aware of each cell of the body pulsating with life force. Embodiment is being in presence of the present, living not only with the mind, but with our entire beings. It allows us to experience the interconnectedness of the creation which sets us on the path towards a richer life full of meaning and intensity. Consequently, it is a realization of the being itself.
- Becoming embodied requires hard work. It is a long process. The current environment is distracting, numbing our awareness. This book opens a door to start this journey, and offers techniques that help to gain access to embodiment in an easy way.
The book is divided into 3 sections, ordering from gross to subtle - the body, the mind, and awareness. The section of body is further segregated into Exercises, The Gut, and Sleep. Physical exercises, breathwork, and panchakarma tools are offered under each topic so that an all round development of the body, mind, and consciousness can be achieved.
- Each section offers techniques that contribute towards developing health, strength, and immunity; increasing energy, and refining the quality of the consciousness so that a more cheerful and fulfilling life can be experienced in the present moment.
