Description
This volume provides a comprehensive review of Turkish shipping, one of the biggest industries in the world - concentrating on the ferry sectors as a case study. It uses a marketing analysis approach and is based on four years research conducted by a combined team from the largest maritime institute in Western Europe and the most prestigious in the Middle East. The text examines the political, economic, social and legal environment in which Turkish shipping operates. Analysis of this provides a model of the economic environment that dictates the progress or otherwise of the industry. It also looks at developments in Turkish shipping since 1980, trends in the fleet and ownership, contribution to the national economy, privatization and ownership issues, trade statistics and transport data. Trends are examined in particular in the light of the future EU relations.
