Dr. Mary Welstead is Visiting Professor in Family Law at the University of Buckingham and Visiting Fellow at the Child Advocacy Program, Harvard Law School. She studied law at Cambridge University and has taught family law in a number of English universities over the past 24 years, as well as writing extensively on the topic for many different audiences. She is the joint author of a very readable textbook, Family Law (second edition, Oxford University Press, 2008); the third edition will be published in March 2011. Between 2003 and 2008, she helped to set up a new university in Sarajevo. Mary has three children and numerous grandchildren, and lives with her husband in Massachusetts and Oxfordshire. They have all helped to centre her attention on the importance and complications of family life.
