Pension reform remains a burning issue, and although the problem is recognised, there is still no agreement on the way forward. This study re-examines the issue and makes policy proposals and recommendations in the areas of EU guidelines, the wider economic implications, a Europe-wide pension scheme and fourth pillar arrangements. The work should be useful to policy makers, economists and the business community, as well as academics and students of EU affairs.
