This volume brings together the correspondence between: John and Margaret Winthrop; John and Mary Newton; Henry Martyn and Lydia Grenfell; Thomas J. and Maria Anna Jackson; Charles and Susannah Spurgeon; and Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Maria von Wedemeyer. Focusing on Christ and then on the one loved, there is in this correspondence no selfishness or assertion of rights. Though all of these letter writers are notably well-recognized, their relationship with each other is marked with deep humility.
