Description
After Einstein, it can neither be said that time is absolute, nor that eternity is timeless. Indeed, contemporary physics may suggest that eternity is the fullness of times. Because much Christian thought still adheres to an absolute time and a timeless eternity, it is all the more opaque to the emerging non-mechanistic scientific worldview. After reviewing theological notions of time and eternity, relativity theory, quantum theory, and three noted cosmologists, this study shows how Christian theology's revisiting of its doctrine of the Trinity can lead to a fruitful consonance with the natural sciences.
