The new edition of a much respected work, this is a short book of basic surgical techniques. It describes and explains techniques such as knot tying, handling instruments, handling ducts, coping with bleeding. Featuring over 300 clear line drawings, it forms a practical guide to a variety of techniques needed in any surgical practice. There have been many changes in surgical techniques since the last edition, not least of which has been the explosion of interest in minimal access surgery. These developments are covered by the fully updated text. The author is actively involved in the teaching courses at the Royal College of Surgeons.
